There are three versions of the "YARD" TUBE CONSOLE

GATES YARD CONSOLE M5526

Starting with this version, GATES eliminated the large headphone selector switch, moved the cue speaker to the rear and made the "YARD" with 8 Mixing channels. The "YARD" Logo appears on the front panel near the meter. This manual and schematic version uses the 5879 preamplifier tubes in the mic preamp sections and the program amplifier input.

GATES YARD M4885A

First Generation YARD console - Six mixing channels.
Manufactured with 5879 preamplifier tubes. Complete Technical documentation. This version of "THE YARD" was built with the power supply, muting relays and monitor amplifier contained in the console cabinet and The cue speaker was on the front panel. Other differences between this early version and the later units is that the "YARD" name does not appear anywhere on the cabinet, there is a large headphone multimeter switch knob on the left front and there are major differences in the mixing buss as this version has only 6 mixing channels. The printed date of the manual for this version is October 11, 1954.

8 Mixing channels. This version of the "YARD" was manufactured with EF-86 / 6267 preamplifier tubes in the microphone pre amps and the program amplifier input.
